We do not sell direct as we have exclusive contracts with our business partners, the pharmacies, drugstores and food retailers. You are welcome, however, to visit the factory shop at our Adelsdorf plant.
We look forward to welcoming you!
We only use gelatin derived from pork ingredients in our products containing gelatin.
Since the BSE crisis hit some years ago, many people who enjoy eating gumdrops have been reluctant to eat beef products and justifiably so.
Sweetening agent is the generic term for all substances which are used to sweeten food. Sweetening agents have little or no impact on the blood sugar level, unlike table sugar, for example (sucrose). Sweetening agents are subdivided into two categories:
Sugar substitutes are not as sweet as table sugar (sucrose) but they have a lower energy content. Examples include sugar alcohols like isomalt, maltitol syrup and xylitol. We only use isomalt and maltitol syrup. They are obtained from fruits and vegetables.
Sweeteners are a hundred to a thousand times more intense than table sugar (sucose). Yet they have virtually no calories. Sweeteners serve merely to provide "sweetness" and are used in very small quantities. Examples include sucralose, saccharin and cyclamate. We only use sucralose in our company. Like sugar substitutes, sweeteners do not cause caries.
The sugar substitutes and sweeteners we use contribute to the preservation of tooth mineralization and cause the blood sugar level to rise less sharply after their consumption than when eating foods containing sugar.
All allergens included as ingredients in our products are visually highlighted in the ingredient list through bold print. If there is a risk of technically unavoidable contact, we voluntarily indicate this below the list of ingredients with the note "May contain traces of ...".
Our products may contain traces of fructose - even if we do not add fructose and therefore do not include it in the list of ingredients. The fructose can come from other ingredients used in the products, such as the fruit juices, or it may develop in the production process from the raw materials.
Since we process gluten in our company, all our products may contain traces of gluten. However, our allergen management pays strict attention to possible cross-contamination to avoid this as far as possible. However, we cannot rule this out 100 percent.

Almost all our products are generally compatible with a vegetarian diet, with the exception of our products which contain gelatin, namely Em‑eukal Gumdrops, Kids Em‑eukal Gumdrops and our Original BÄRENGARTEN Fruit Juice Bears.
Gelatin is clearly included in the list of ingredients on the products in which it is used.
If you are a vegan, then the Original BÄRENGARTEN Vegan Multivitamin Bears, the Em‑eukal candies (with exception of the Em‑eukal Honey, Em‑eukal Sage-Honey, Em‑eukal Pomegranate-Honey, and the Em‑eukal Manuka Honey varieties) as well as the Kids Em‑eukal hard candies are suitable for a vegan diet. We generally exclude packaging from this assessment
Our family-run enterprise Dr. C. SOLDAN does not carry out animal testing in its development work, either with raw materials or with finished products, nor is any kind of animal testing carried out on the company's instructions.
We recommend that our products should not be given to children under the age of three – especially due to the potential choking hazard.
This also applies to our Kids Em‑eukal, whether cough drops or gumdrops: Since choking can unfortunately never be completely ruled out, we recommend that Kids Em‑eukal only be given to smaller children (under three years of age) under supervision. However, the decision regarding the consumption of our products by small children ultimately lies with the parent or guardian.
In principle, there are no precise regulations regarding the consumption quantity of our Em‑eukal and Kids Em‑eukal products, as these are foodstuffs and not medicines or similar products. If you know that your child is allergic to certain foods or ingredients, we ask you to check the declared list of ingredients accordingly in advance.
All of our sugar-free cough drops are marked on their packaging with a legally required, so-called “warning" about a possible laxative effect. Unfortunately, however, it is not possible to state the exact quantity above which such an effect can occur. Every organism metabolises the sugar substitute Isomalt, which is contained in our sugar-free drops, in a different way. Some people feel something from the very first cough drop they consume. And others can eat as many cough drops as they want - and still not notice anything. The same applies to the sugar substitute maltitol syrup in our sugar-free gumdrops.
We therefore recommend that you carefully gauge the amount you can eat and, if in doubt, fall back on a product containing sugar.
This is due to the sugar substitutes which every person and every organism reacts to differently. Many people do not react at all to sugar-free products, while others feel something right from the first cough drop. For our cough drops we use the sugar substitute isomalt, for our sugar-free gumdrops we use the sugar substitute maltitol syrup.

Our products are defined as food and not medicines or similar. Consequently, there are no special studies that prove there have been harmful effects when our products are consumed during pregnancy. We therefore do not see any problems in consuming a normal amount. However, please make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. In addition, hypersensitivity can cause problems with sugar-free sweets due to the sugar substitute. As there are no reliable data on menthol and liquorice root in relation to pregnant women, we recommend that you consult your doctor.
Ethanol is used as a technical additive in the production of our premium cough drops. In addition, the natural flavours we use are partially dissolved with ethanol so that they can be integrated into the cough drop recipe. However, it can be assumed that the ethanol completely evaporates during production due to the high temperatures of up to 150 degrees. Therefore, you are welcome to decide for yourself whether you can and would like to consume our cough drops.
For reasons of recipe secrecy, we are unfortunately not allowed to reveal more at this point and ask for your understanding. What we can say, however, is: it's real menthol, not a flavouring.
In general, the following can be said about "menthol":
The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) warns that undiluted essential oils are not suitable for infants and small children. Special care must be taken for children under three years of age when using camphor, eucalyptus, thyme and peppermint oil (menthol). These essential oils are regarded as particularly problematic.
In Dr. C. SOLDAN products, however, the quantity of essential oils and menthol is minimal, despite the (relatively) intense taste, and therefore cannot be compared with taking undiluted essential oils. Menthol basically has a cooling effect - a little stronger or weaker depending on the dosage. Since we offer cough drops, we consider this a sensible addition to the recipe for such products.
